DMV QUESTION???? CAN I TAKE THE HONDA RUCKUS ON THE HIGHWAY????
WHAT ARE THE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR SCOOTERS LIKE THE RUCKUS IN NEW YORK STATE???? IT IS 49cc BUT IS CONSIDERED STREET LEGAL. TOP SPEED OF 50 MPH. I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN TAKE IT ON THE HIGHWAY BEFORE I BUY IT. ARE THERE ANY OTHER RULES I SHOULD KNOW RIDING IT ON PUBLIC ROADS??? THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

NO.
Federal HWY law requires at least 150cc to be able to operated on the HWY (I live in NYC also).
Either way 50cc will NOT get you to 50 mph (myabe if you are going down hill and the wind is behind you but…).

Consider your Ruckus (or any 50cc scooter) a motorized bicycles. That that is basically how the DMV considers it (with few more rules – like nobody under 16, requires a license, etc.).
