whitch is better crate or self-modified?
which would be better to slowly modify my honda engine to be suitable for a turbo, or should i just buy a pre-modified japanese engine, and if so whats the best web site to do so

Those so called “pre-modified” japanese motors are built for normally aspirated. I believe Edelbrock sells motors set up for turbo. Give them a shot, but I heard it’s @7k just for the motor.
